Curitiba 1

Day 622,
65 998 km since beginning of the journey,
Curitiba, Brazil,

Curitiba is the largest city in the southern region of Brazil. According to Wikipedia the population of Brazil is 1.76 million and it is the world's fifth largest country, both by area (8.5 million km ²) and population (193 million inhabitants).

The Botanical Garden of Curitiba, Portuguese Jardim Botanico de Curitiba is at the beginning of the list of attractions.

For a moment, even the sun comes out, but not for long. Lately there has been usually a little sun in the morning , very warm and humid and then in the afternoon the sky turns cloudy and it begins to rain.

"Linha Turismo Curitiba", or a tourist bus, a good opportunity to get some kind of an overview of the city in half a day. I leave my Mazda at a parking lot by the main entrance of the Botanical Garden. For a change it is quite comfortable to have a look at the town from the second floor, as long as it does not rain.

In many streets round pavilions catch the eye.

In the centre I make the first stop – there should be a crafts fair on Sunday and so it is.

Porcelain and local crafts, and old books and magazines. Slightly reminds of Tallinn Old Town Days, the pavement is also familiar.

On the other side of the street there is a mosque.

And small Volkswagen buses catch the eye. They are everywhere, and no wonder as their production began in Brazil in 1976 and they are being produced until now.

Here's a great comic book sales site. And then it happened that suddenly the camera's memory card wasfull. And all of a sudden. So not surprising, because instead of the 32 GB I had used 4-GB card and it contained already a few videos and pictures of almost a week, so it's no wonder. The solution is to take time off for a moment, sit down and have a critically review of the records. The most sensible solution would be to buy some cards, but somehow the IT products have quite high prices. At least in large shopping centres and the city centre. Perhaps later can find some of more favourable price.
