Mendoza Zoo is located almost in the center of the town .The Zoo was founded in the year of 1903, but the official opening took place only in 1941.
As usual at the entrance there is a plan- so one can find the animals of interest. That is - those who live in cages. Actually there are a few monkeys here running around freely, and some other animals as well.
Also here is the Toucan.

The Brown Bear a familiar animal for us, but here it is still exotic. There are more brown bears here. And even one polar bear should be here, the only one in Argentina, but because of the heat - the animal was not to be seen.
Actually – the story of the polar bear is a little longer. As the climate here is really hot and the polar bear of Buenos Aires died because of the heat in December – the people have organized some petitions to achieve the transfer of the polar bear to Canada, but at the moment the 28 year bear is still here.
The zoo has been criticized for poor conditions several times.

I can sometimes understand those who do not visit zoos, because they claim that they want to see the animals in the wild, but in Brazil I managed to see the latest pictures of a chewed leg. And quite sure that this man also does not want to see any puma in the wild for a long time.

The various paths are well marked, the longest is about 3-5 km, and the shortest one is for school children.

For summary – such a usual zoo, covering 48 hectares, but nothing special. The number of different species is 39. The cages and trails are well marked. It can take an hour and a half for the visit, when to walk calmly.
In fact, the morning shopping took an hour and the visit to the Zoo in addition an hour and a half so - at the end it was half past two when I was again on the road- moving towards the mountains. In the hope of reaching Uspallata before dark. Uspallata is 100 km away, but the mountains are in between. And I did not choose the major highway RN7 deliberately.
